Performed by the talented students of South Korea’s Chung-Ang University,
the Dance Department of the Art College will present
their interpretations of traditional Korean dance,
as well as choreography drawn from the contemporary and ballet styles.

GEUNG-SOO KIM,, Director

Geung-Soo KimThe performances are directed by the renowned Geung-soo Kim, professor at Chung-Ang University’s Dance Department.  He led the Korean National Ballet Company (KNBC) as a principle dancer until 1993 where he displayed talent not only in classical productions, but also in Korean contemporary ballets.  He then moved onto becoming the company’s artistic director.  Despite his retirement from the ballet company and new position as professor at Chung-Ang University, Kim continued to support the KNBC as a member of its advisory board from 2000 to 2001.  Presently, he is a member of the Board of Directors of the both the World Dance Association and the Korean Dance Academy Association in South Korea.  Kim is a recipient of the 1984 National Theater of Korea Director Award, and of the 1987 Artists Awards by the Minister of Culture and Information.

The Keumsil Cultural Society is a non-profit organization with a commitment to the preservation and promotion of Korean heritage, culture, the enrichment of public life in the United States.  As an agency with a mission to promote cultural exchanges and mutual understanding between different cultures, the Keumsil Cultural Society serves both the general American public and the Korean American community.  The Society has had the honor of making significant contributions to American culture while also promoting and advocating greater visibility of various Korean art forms and traditions. 

The Korean American Sports Council of Chicago (KASCC) is a non-profit organization that was established in 1981.  It was created to represent and promote the interests of Korean American amateurs in the field of athletics.  The Council works to demonstrate the spirit and pride in the heritage of Korean Americans, and assists athletes participating in the National Korean American Olympic Festival held every two years. 
The Korean American Olympic Festival is a national sports event organized for eligible Korean American athletes.  The Festival was established to promote unity amongst Korean Americans.  After 23 years of unifying Korean Americans, the Festival now encompasses 25 major cities/states and offers 17 different sporting events.  Chicago is set to host the event in 2009.  Tae Hoon Kim currently serves as the President of the Council.

Hanul is a Korean word that expresses one-ness and unity.  The Hanul Family Alliance (HFA) was established to assist and empower individuals and families in need by enhancing their quality of life in all areas.  They provide a comprehensive range of services including:  Family Support, Legal Assistance, Public Health, and Senior Related Aid.

 한국의 중앙대학교 에술대학 무용학과를 시카고에 초청하여 한국의 문화를 알리게됩니다.

5월 18일 (금): 시카고체육회주최-2007 샌프란시스코 미주한인체전 후원의밤 문화공연을 Christian Heritage Academy (315 Waukegan Rd., Northfield, IL. 60093)에서 오후 8시부터 열리며 입장료는 $30이며 이기금을 젊은 청소년들이 올해 6월말에열리는 미주체전에 참가할 경비에 쓰여질 예정입니다.

5월19일 (토): 오전 11시-한울종합복지관에서 주최하는 연장자들대상 초청 "효"공연이 아문젠 고등학교강당에서 열릴예정입니다.

또한 같은날 당일 오후 3;45분부터 4;15분에는 스코키문화축제(Skokie Festival of Culture /Oakton Park, 4701 W. Oakton Street, Skokie, IL. 60076)과 다음날

5월 20일 (일요일) 에는 오후 2시부터 2시30분까지 같은장소에서 공연이 있겠으며 입장은 무료입니다.

5월 21일 (월요일) 에는 다운타운 테일리센타에서 아시안문화축제 (Asian American Festival) 가 일주간 열리는데 첫날 오프닝 하이라이트로 한국을 대표해서 공연이 펼칠예정입니다.
