Choonnam Chung
Music Director & Conductor of the Chicago Classical Philharmonic, studied music performance at Chung-Ang University in Seoul, Korea. Mr. Chung won the second prize at the Competition of the Music Association of Korea in 1980. He played with In-Chun City Symphony Orchestra as an Assistant Principal Trombonist, Seoul Wind Ensemble and Rinnai Wind Ensemble for seven years. He finished the Master’s Degree in Music Performance in 1995 and Certificate Music Performance in 1997 at DePaul University. He has traveled and performed solos with the Chicago Staff Band, countries including Chile, Canada, New Zealand, and U.S. A.. Mr. Chung also completed the Master’s Degree in Orchestral Conducting at Illinois State University in 2003, and was an assistant conductor at ISU Orchestra. He participated in numerous conducting seminars and workshops, and appeared many occasions as a conductor. His conducting teacher includes Dr. Glen Block. He is currently a Choir Director of the First Korean United Methodist Church.

Warren Moulton
During the past two decades, tenor Warren Moulton has performed over 50 lead and character roles in Tosca, La Bohème, Madama Butterfly, Lucia di Lammermoor, La Favorita, Don Giovanni, The Tales of Hoffmann, Die Fledermaus, The Merry Widow, The Desert Song, Candide and others for such companies as Chicago Opera Theater, Glimmerglass Opera, Madison Opera, Pamiro Opera, Light Opera Works, Du Page Opera, Chicago Chamber Opera and Lincoln Opera. A veteran of over 300 concert and recital performances, Mr. Moulton has soloed with Wheaton Symphony, Elgin Symphony, the Chicago Symphonic Pops, Waukegan Symphony, West Suburban Symphony, Illinois Valley Symphony and others. This former radio announcer and nightclub comic was also the host of the immensely popular “Wednesday Opera” and “Classical Cabaret” series at the Chicago Cultural Center and the “Summer Opera” concert series at Grant Park.

Franco Martorana
The son of a Sicilian tenor, Franco Martorana made his operatic stage debut as Camille in The Merry Widow for Chicago ’s Lincoln Opera. Other favorite roles include Alfredo in La Traviata, Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly, Rodolfo in La Bohème and Turiddu in Cavalleria Rusticana. In 1997, Mr. Martorana was invited to sing the roles of Alfredo and Turiddu in productions of La Traviata and Cavalleria Rusticana in Humbach , Germany . A co-founder of Bellissima Opera Productions, Mr. Martorana has starred in the company’s productions of La Traviata and Madama Butterfly in numerous theaters throughout the Midwest . This golden voiced tenor has also gained a well deserved reputation for his interpretations of Neapolitan songs. Most recently, Mr. Martorana sang the role of Michele in The Saint of Bleecker Street during Chicago Chamber Opera’s gala tribute to the late Gian Carlo Menotti.

Simon Kyung Lee
This former Korean child star began his musical studies at Dong Eui University in his hometown of Busan. After migrating to the U. S. , Mr. Lee continued his studies at Roosevelt University . His solo debut came about during a 1994 production of La Bohème, when the tenor took on the role of Rodolfo for an indisposed colleague. Since this unexpected debut, Mr. Lee has made a great impression on public and critics alike in such roles as Radames in Aïda, Manrico in Il Trovatore, Ismaele in Nabucco, Arvino in I Lombardi, Cavaradossi in Tosca, Luigi in Il Tabarro, Rinuccio in Gianni Schicchi and, what is fast becoming his signature role, Calaf in Turandot. Mr. Lee has been enjoying his association with Utah Festival Opera, Da Corneto Opera, Opera Carolina, Kansas City Puccini Festival, Sunstate Opera and others. In April of 2007, Mr. Lee made his Carnegie Hall debut as tenor soloist in Haydn’s Mass in Time of War.

Chicago Classical Philharmonic (CCP) |
Chicago Classical Philharmonic (CCP) was founded in February 2007 and is composed of professional Korean and American musicians who reside in the Chicago area.
CCP has been in actively providing quality concerts in the Korean community of the Chicago area. Its musicians have a passion to provide performances of a higher musical standard.
Under the leadership of Music Director Choonnam Chung, it had its “Inaugural Concert” in July, 2007, “Autumn and Classic” in September, 2007, “Buona Notte Pavarotti” Concert in December 2007 and an encore performance in May of 2008, and “Nostalgia and Classic” in July 2008.
CCP is revitalizing the cultural environment of the Korean community and finding hidden talent in the young generation by giving them performance opportunities. CCP will guide them to be the frontier leaders of the next generation succeeding to their true cultural identity and heritage.
To provide cultural heritage and harmonious environment through music for the Korean community and Chicago area residents, CCP has set its annual concerts as follows:
1) Korean Independence Day Celebration Concert
2) Concert for the Challenged Neighbors and the needed
3) Concerto Night for young Korean musicians
4) Concert for the Korean Cultural Center in Chicago
