Stellio Trio was founded while the members were pursuing their doctorate at Northwestern University Bienen School of Music. They are graduates of The Juilliard School, Yale University School of Music, Indiana University Jacobs School of Music and Seoul National University. They have worked with Garrick Ohlsson, Alan Chow, Sylvia Wang, and Blair Milton. Stellio had successful debut at Lutkin Hall in Illinois in 2014 and have been performing enthusiastically in Chicago area and South Korea.
Violinist, Yoorhi Choi has won numerous competitions including Kingsville International Competition, Artists International, Thavis, Korea Times Competition, and was a recipient of prestigious Irene Diamond scholarship at The Juilliard School. Ms. Choi has performed as a soloist including Alice Tully in Lincoln Center, Carnegie Weil Hall, Sejong Hall, and many others. After receiving Artist Diploma from Yale School of Music, she teaches undergraduate students as an assistant for Professor Blair Milton at Northwestern University.
Cellist, Sungchan Chang is a winner of Artist International Competition, the Juilliard Concerto Competition, Aspen Concerto Competition, BMF Competition, Joong-Ang Daily News Competition, Music Academy of the West Concerto Competition, and Northwestern Concerto/Aria Competition. He won second prizes at the Nan-Pa Competition and the National News Competition. Mr. Chang was also the prize winner of the New Jersey Young Artist Competition, and Isang Yun International Cello Competition.
Pianist, Hyejin Joo won various awards and honorable mentions including the Indiana University Concerto Competition, Seoul National University Concerto Competition, the International Music Magazine, Segye Daily Times, Hanjeon Arts Center, Suri music, Spring and Fall and Hankook Ilbo Music competition. She gave solo recitals in Auer Hall and Recital hall at Indiana University, Recital Hall at Seoul National University and an audition based prodigy recital at Kumho Art Hall. Ms. Joo is also a recipient of numerous scholarships such as Honor’s scholarship from Seoul National University, AI Scholarship and Artistic Excellence Scholarship from IU. Ms. Joo served as an associate instructor at secondary piano department at Indiana University.
Members of Stellio’s primary teachers include Dorothy Delay, Hyo Kang, Chin Kim, David Chan, Blair Milton, Arnaldo Cohen, Edward Auer, Alan Chow, Hee Sung Joo, Richard Aaron, HyoungWon Chang, Myung-Hwa Chung, Andre Emelianoff, Hee Duck Lee, Aldo Parisot and Hans Jørgen Jensen.

Jin Uk Lee , Baritone |
Jin Uk Lee, baritone was born in the city of Seoul, South Korea. He graduated with a Bachelor degree in voice from Kyung Pook National University in South Korea. He has performed several oratorio solos in Korea and in the USA, including the baritone solo in Handel’s Messiah and Haydn’s The Creation. He studied with Professors In Soo Park in South Korea and later with Andreas Poulimenos and Carol Vaness at Indiana University.
While at Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music, he performed the role of Germont in La Traviata with David Effron and Tito Capobianco. He also performed the role of Zurga from The Pearl Fishers as well as the roles of Silvio in Pagliacci and the role of Count in Le nozze di Figaro while a pupil of Professor Carol Vaness. And he also performed the roles of Papageno in Die Zauberflöte and Tiger Brown in The Threepenny Opera, Honor Showcase recital and received Outstanding Performance in the Honors Assembly in Ohio.
He earned first prize for vocal music at the National Artistic Vocal Competition and second prize in the Indianapolis Matinee Musicale competition. He was awarded the Sweet Adelines International Award from the Young Singers Foundation and was the recipient of the Albert Rees Davis Scholarship at the S. Livingston Mather Scholarship Competition in Cleveland. He was First Place Winner of the National Association of Teachers of Song Competition.
He has received the Merit Award Scholarship and has been the Opera assistant at Lyric Theatre at the Univeristy of Illinois for the last three years.
His performances at Illinois include Ford from Falstaff, Street Singer from The Threepenny Opera and the role of Riolobo from Florencia en el Amazonas. Currently, he is studying for the Doctoral Musical Arts degree with Professor Nathan Gunn at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
