Chicago Children's Choir
50th Anniversary Concert
Park location: Jay Pritzker Pavilion at Millennium Park, Chicago.
Date: 6/17/2007
Time: 3:00 PM - 4:30 PM
Celebrating 50 years, Chicago Children’s Choir performs songs of freedom, peace and hope.
"In 1956, the late Rev. Christopher Moore began to put a dream into motion: a dream that young people from diverse backgrounds could better understand each other, as well as learn about themselves, by learning to make beautiful music together. It worked. And it continues to work to this day. Now housed in Chicago's beaux-arts landmark Cultural Center, each year the Chicago Children's Choir brings together nearly 3,200 kids in the shared pursuit of musical excellence and personal growth."
The world-renowned 80-voice Concert Choir illustrates its roots in the Civil Rights Movement through a diverse, exhilarating program for all ages:
from the classic Americana of Leonard Bernstein to Motown to anti-apartheid South African folk songs, including a world-premier commission by Chicago composer Lita Grier, based on the inspiring words of late teen poet Mattie Stepanek.
Lita Grier premiere generously underwritten
by Jim and Ginger Meyer.
Chicago Children’s Choir performance is sponsored by Nuveen
Investments.

Molinaro/Levy Project:
Program:
Timeless jazz standards and original compositions
The duo of harmonica player Howard Levy and pianist Anthony Molinaro has been described as one demonstrating "instrumental virtuosity, free-form improvisation and a genuine simpatico." -Downbeat. Anthony and Howard each bring startlingly original technique to this duo project that showcases both performers' supreme improvisational abilities. Their repertoire includes exciting original pieces as well as unique versions of timeless standards. Universally acknowledged as the world's most advanced diatonic harmonica player, Howard developed a fully chromatic style on the standard 10-hole diatonic harmonica, revolutionizing harmonica playing. Anthony Molinaro's stunning performances and unique versatility have captivated audiences and critics alike since his victory at the 1997 Naumburg International Piano Competition. In addition to his traditional concert repertoire, Mr. Molinaro is also a gifted composer and jazz artist. Together, Howard Levy and Anthony Molinaro know no bounds.
